Early Tuesday morning, a U-Haul truck crashed into a power pole in Asheville. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened on New Leicester Highway, near the entrance of Meadows Apartments and Evelake Drive, at about 4:45 a.m. Very few details about the crash have been released, but we do know that the driver reportedly left the scene after the wreck.

Initial reports indicate that there may have been marijuana in the vehicle. There has been no word on whether or not anybody was injured. Early Friday morning, a semi truck crash in Polk County took the life of one man. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened on I-26 near the Saluda exit, at about 2:15 a.m. For currently unknown reasons, the tractor trailer left the roadway, came over the guardrail and overturned beside the roadway. The driver of that truck, Tony Joseph Hurst or Chapin, South Carolina, was killed in the crash.

Very few details about the fatal truck crash have been released, and the cause of the wreck is likely still under investigation with the authorities. Portions of the roadway were closed for hours as first responders and crews worked the scene. The large truck was hauling tiny plastic pellets, which spilled all over the interstate. On Monday morning, a multi-vehicle crash involving a semi truck injured at least nine people. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened in the southbound lanes of US-441, near Lake Emory and the Franklin exit, at North East Main Street. Although very few details have been released, we do know that at least six vehicles were involved in the crash, including a tractor trailer. Apparently, the semi truck rear-ended a pickup truck, which turned into to a chain-reaction crash. Additionally, the wreck happened near a construction zone.

Nine People Injured in Truck Crash

The crash happened sometime before 11:20 a.m., on Highway 441 South. At least nine people were injured. Of those injured, four were rushed to the hospital for treatment, including one woman who was airlifted to Mission Hospital in Asheville. There is no word on any of the victims’ current conditions, but the woman who was airlifted reportedly suffered from a head injury. At this time, there’s no word on the status of the investigation or whether or not any charges have been made against the truck driver.
