On Monday, there were multiple crashes in the Western North Carolina area. With heavy rain in Jackson County, Sylva and other areas, motorists were urged to exercise caution on local roadways. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, a box truck overturned on Highway 23, near the Sylva exit. Very few details have been released about this truck crash, but we do know that both eastbound lanes had to be closed as crews worked to clear the scene. There has been no word on the cause of this crash, which is still under investigation with law enforcement officials. Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported.
Safe Driving in Poor Weather
With winter weather on the way, drivers in Asheville and surrounding Western North Carolina communities are reminded to exercise caution and safety on local roadways. Drivers should always adjust their speed to the conditions of the roadway. If roadways are wet and there is heavy precipitation, it may be unsafe to travel at the posted speed limit. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, drive slowly, leave plenty of room for the vehicles in front of them and make sure their vehicles are safe and roadworthy. Brakes, tires, windshield wipers and other equipment should all be in top working order.
