On Saturday, there was a fatal wrong-way crash on Interstate 26 (U.S.-19) in Woodfin. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened between exit 24 and 25. Very little information has been released, but we do know that 73-year-old Jimmy Davis of Nashville was headed the wrong way on U.S.-19 North in the southbound lane, when his vehicle hit another vehicle head-on. Davis, a passenger in his vehicle and the other driver were all rushed to Mission Hospital for treatment. Davis did not survive his injuries.

This head-on collision is still under investigation with local law enforcement authorities. There has been no word on the extent of injuries involved or on the conditions of the passenger or the other driver. Last week, a hit-and-run crash took the life of a pedestrian in Woodfin. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened along Weaverville Highway on Thursday. The pedestrian, 59-year-old Steven Banks of Asheville, was killed about three-tenths of a mile from his home. Initial reports indicate that the car involved was traveling at a high rate of speed and was swerving prior to the wreck.

A few days after the crash, law enforcement officers with the Woodfin Police Department received a tip about the car involved in the wreck. On Monday, a warrant was issued for Fonda Jane Adkins in connection with the felony hit-and-run change and driving with a revoked license.
